Practicing

There are two main concerns with practicing. A violinist must be mentally alert. Secondly, a violinist must intelligently distribute the practice time.

Galamian asserts that there are three categories of practice hours which must all be kept up with:

building time meant to overcome technical problems
interpreting time meant to conform a piece of work to one's ideas
performing time meant to ready a piece for technical performance
